Adelaide's high-energy punk band LOLA are known for their fast, hook-laden tracks and sharp live presence.

We sat down with the band ahead of their single launch THIS SATURDAY as they took us through some iconic stories from the LOLA lore!

Every band has the stories that get told again and again. The weird ones. The sleep-deprived ones. The "how did we get away with that?" ones. For LOLA, those moments seem to come with early flights, questionable travel decisions, allergic reactions, and a very healthy amount of chaos.

In this edition of Take Five, the band look back on some of their favourite memories together - from sharing the stage with a rock legend to navigating airport security with a duct-taped suitcase.

Playing with Dave Gleeson

First up: playing with Dave Gleeson. The band remember performing at Parliament House as part of a show to "save a crane cutter", with Gleeson bringing full rock energy to the moment. "He was frickin' rockin'," they say. Even better, it sounds like they will be sharing a stage with him again.

First Interstate Flight

Then there was their first interstate flight. A red-eye around 6am, an Uber to the airport, no sleep, and that surreal feeling of realising things were starting to feel properly real. The excitement was high, the energy was questionable, and as the band put it, none of them were particularly used to being awake that early.

Becoming A Father

Their favourite memories also took a turn into full band-family mythology, with Max joking about being "pregnant with Mitchell" and watching him take his first steps. Whether it was a literal milestone or just classic LOLA nonsense, the band clearly know how to turn a story into a bit.

High On Life

Over in Portugal, things got even stranger. Staying at a mate's place, the band were "high on life" - while Max was also battling a cat allergy. The result? Nobody could quite tell who was caught up in the moment and who was just reacting badly to the cat.

The Airport "Incident"

And finally, there was the airport security incident. On the band's first overseas trip, Billy decided to bring his skateboard, duct-taping it to his suitcase. Security, understandably, had questions. With the bag completely taped shut and a skateboard strapped across it, the whole thing looked more than a little suspicious.

"Desperate times with desperate measures," the band say.

From Parliament House to Portugal, from red-eye flights to airport security standoffs, LOLA's favourite memories are exactly what you want from a band on the move: messy, funny, and full of stories that could only happen on the road.
